Gerome Magboo Vedeja is a seventeen-year-old an eighteen-year-old a nineteen year-old guy living in Valenzuela City. Currently, he’s taking up BA Political Science at the University of the Philippines Manila located along the streets of Padre Faura and Pedro Gil, where the University is born.
You can call him by his name alone, Gerome. If you think Jong, his pet name at home, sounds better, call him like that. Or if you like, call him Yom like what his college friends and co-bloggers do.
He did not come from a well-off family, as what other people have been thinking of. However, this fact motivated him even more. In fact, this guy became more optimistic and confident. He became more ambitious as he tries to remake another rags-to-riches kind of story.
He loves writing, from simple blog entries up to the super technical and jargon-filled research papers in Political Science. Aside from blogging, he also keeps a personal journal for years, which is badly maintained nowadays.
Also, reading keeps him busy at times, although he is lazy to do so. But being in Political Science requires him to read, read, read and read. Thus, he’s trying his very best to read all sorts of reading materials religiously. This is in preparation for MA Political Science or Law at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Some people can hear him singing virtually anywhere–inside the bathroom, while walking, during an exam. His love for music makes him a great fan of Usher, Josh Groban, Christina Aguilera, Craig David and N Sync. He also knows how to play the guitar. Someday, he wants to join a singing competition–for the first time. And if he were too lucky, he might as well become a future dancing RnB artist or a balladeer.
This guy is a glutton. During meals, he won’t stop eating until he grasps for air, especially if there is a Sinigang (of all sorts), a Kare-kare, a Menudo, a Corned Beef with Mixed Veggies or an Itlog na Pula with lots of tomatoes on the table. But this does not reflect with his body built, for he seems to be deprived with food. These past few days, he tries to upgrade his meals by eating a lot of protein- and carbohydate-rich foods. This might be the reason why he eats plain cooked rice even without the viand. But one thing is for sure: give him a plate of spaghetti and he’ll surely smile at you as he eats it like a kid.
His being sporty is not really obvious with how he looks like, though he is a big fan of volleyball and basketball. He can play those two (although he’s not really good in basketball. LOL). Aside from volleyball and basketball, he plays badminton, bowling and tae kwon do (that was before). He is also a frustrated soccer player, and watching some soccer leagues in the past was his way to appease himself. He is also becoming a tennis fan, and he might love it the way he loves pretty volleyball players.
Most of the time, people would see him smiling, pouting or biting his lower lip as he continues to key in text messages or chatting using his mobile phone. On tough times, he is proud to say that he is the grace-under-pressure type of guy as he manages to keep things in track and in favor of him after so much pressure and lack of preparation. He is, indeed, a great crammer, and he tries to change that.
He believes in a Supreme Being the way he believes that the current worldwide system is exploitative and oppressive. Someday, he envisioned a world with a better concept of social justice, democracy, equity, political opportunities, economic parity, heightened political participation and non-apathy. As he deepens his study of politics, he is also seeing a lot of wrong things in this world. Thus, he sees a need to break the apathy and stand up for the things that serve the people as a whole, not those who hold the politico-economic power.
He was the College Representative of the 36th College of Arts and Sciences Student Council (CAS-SC) to the UP Manila Centennial University Student Council (USC). He also became the Finance Officer ( 2006-2007 ) and the Chairperson ( 2007-2008 ) of Kabataang Artista Para sa Tunay na Kalayaan (KARATULA), a cultural-political organization that uses art as a form of protest and propaganda towards social change.
Some of his affiliations include UP Prelaw Society, Greenpeace UP Manila, ASAP-Katipunan, Sigma Kappa Pi Fraternity and Kabataan Party.

Geneva: Hehe. Hindi ako camera-shy. Sobrang hindi! Hehe.
